National Heroes’ Day – Million People March throwback

Today is National Heroes’ Day, a perfect time to post these pictures taken exactly a year ago, during the Million People March. It was the height of the pork barrel scam—a scandal where government funds appropriated for localized development projects are just going to ghost organizations and therefore, to the pockets of a greedy few. Outraged, tens of thousands of Filipinos gathered to Luneta (Rizal Park) to express indignity and to call for the abolition of the pork barrel. Today, key players of the scandal, Napoles and the first three senators on this list have been detained, but this pork barrel issue is far from over.

I met up with my friends, because those that protest together, stay together. 😉 It was a perfect time to reunite because all of us wanted to join the march anyway.

Salutes to these guards! Takes real dedication to remain that steady in this heat.

Beautiful architecture while looking for a place to eat.

The cast minus me, after watching the light show at Luneta. It was a fulfilling day; but we’re still not done with you, Napoles and co!
