Throwback Thursday: Whale Shark at Pintuyan, Southern Leyte
Since it’s Shark Week, this is a relevant throwback post. Behold my first film-captured Pintuyan whale shark!
This is the only picture I managed to capture, given that the shark swam into the deep seconds after we dove in. Still, free-swimming whale sharks are always a sight to behold, and Pintuyan is the ideal place for that. Steve de Neef, my favorite conservation photographer, explains what makes it awesome: Southern Leyte, a perfect example of eco-tourism
Hours passed and sadly, we didn’t encounter another one. That’s nature for you! Wanting to make the most of our 3-hour session, my brother decided he wanted to learn to skin-dive instead, so I happily obliged him with a lesson. Our mother joined us for some snorkelling.
This was the first time I used the Nikonos in the ocean! Scary, but I’m glad to say it performed as expected. The 15mm is a dream, really. 🙂 Can’t wait to go take it out again for a swim!
